July 2005 Newsletter

Periodically, we’re going to send out a newsletter with information on exciting new wines we’ve discovered and Price Buster specials we’re offering. We want to present you with wines that we find not only exceptional in taste but also in value.

We’ve recently put in a few new lines of Argentinean wines that are truly outstanding. These wines are highly allocated and great values for the price. Buy them while they last.

2003 Tikal Amorio Malbec $29.99 “The 2003 Amorio boasts a nose of creamed red cherries. Produced from Malbec, this generous, broad, seductive, lush wine coats the mouth with oodles of red cherry and plum flavors. Exceptionally well-balanced and ripe, this is a feminine, graceful (yet immensely flavorful) beauty for drinking over the next 5+ years.” Robert Parker, 91 points

2002 Tikal Jubilo $43.99 “Roasted espresso bean, lead pencil, cassis, and blackberry aromas emanate from the glass of the 2002 Jubilo. This Bordeaux-blend is focused, filled with red and black currants, dark cherries, iron, spices...bringing to mind a St.-Julien, it has a graceful, flavorful personality. Drink it over the next 7 years.” Robert Parker, 91 points

2003 Tikal Patriota $24.99 “Boisterous aromas of black raspberries, plums, blueberries, and spices burst from the glass of the 2003 Patriota, a blend of 60% Bonarda and 40% Malbec. So named because it is produced from the two red cornerstones of Argentina’s wine industry, this lush, exquisitely ripe, balanced, hugely flavorful effort conquers the palate with a plethora of spice-laden red and black fruits. Some alcoholic warmth in its otherwise long and appealing finish prevented an outstanding score. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.” Robert Parker, 89 points

2005 Crios de Susana Balbo Torrontes $13.99 No, that’s not a vintage typo. This white wine is crisp, fresh and perfect for the summer season. Imagine honeysuckle, orange blossom, peach and melon on the nose with a light citrus and crisp minerality on the finish. A very interesting wine that we love.

2004 Crios de Susana Balbo Rosé of Malbec $11.99 Strawberry, raspberry and red currents on the nose and palate with crisp, clean finish. A great way to beat the summer heat with or without food.

2003 Crios de Susana Balbo Syrah/Bonarda $13.99 Rich cherry pie, red currants and dark fruits on the nose and palate. Nice earthy/slatey finish. Robert Parker, 88 points

2003 Crios de Susana Balbo Cabernet Sauvignon $13.99 Bright red fruits and coffee on the nose and palate with a rich body, soft structure and dry finish. A great value.

2003 Budini Chardonnay $9.99 Candied pineapple, ripe melon and orange on the nose and palate. A nice, crisp chard for the back porch.

2003 Budini Malbec $9.99 Smokey, buttery, jammy dark fruits on the nose with cherries and raspberries on the palate. Rich and wonderful for an under ten dollar wine.

Price Busters!
